I was fortunate to capture the fleeting drama

The ferocious wind that had us grounded for two days rips across the Bardarbunga volcano in Iceland

plopped my tripod down

the colors become vibrant and quite stunning

much less a thunderstorm

B√°r√∞arbunga erupting in the distance with the aurora dancing overhead made for a surreal and totally Icelandic scene

and I figured my feet were already frozen anyway

I was able to piece together an image of this wonderful place
