Description

Baby Bell | Victorian Mourning Book | 1878Heartbreaking, scarce little Victorian mourning book in the form of a poem by Richard Aldridge illustrated throughout with black and white engravings. The poem concerns the death of a baby and the way the family leans on their faith to process the tragic loss. Bound in decorated green cloth covers with some wear. Interior is very good.

This early Victorian mourning book was written in memory of a little boy who died at age 7

I was so delighted to find this poignant piece: It’s for a baby who died at only 2 years & 10 months in 1870

The print dates to the 1830s and was later matted and framed professionally

Gorgeous antique silver plated hand mirror with an art nouveau figure of a woman with snake-like tendrils of hair & poppy blossoms

this cast iron ornament would have been part of a cemetery fence

a nail brush

some of which have paper bodies

Missing its clasp

I think it is an alloy of some sort: It does not have the same color or texture as cast iron

Dated 1909
