Campbell of Argyll Tartan
Description
Campbell of Argyll TartanThe Campbell of Argyll tartan was created by the 6th Duke of Argyll around 1815, who added a white line to the plain Campbell tartan to distinguish his chief's sett, though the tartan itself has varied and is not officially recognized as a unique Campbell tartan by the Clan Society, unlike the Black Watch or the officially approved Campbell tartans. The original idea to create a distinct tartan for the Duke was not well received by the wider Campbell
