Description

St. Cecilia PaperweightThis vintage brass paperweight depicts one of my favorite religious sculptures: The incorrupt body of St. Cecilia by Stefano Moderno in Rome. One of many Roman virgin martyrs, Cecilia is the patron saint of music. Supposedly, the church of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere was built on the site of her original home. Pope Paschal I buried her purported remains there; they were exacavated, found to be incorrupt, and displayed in 1599 by Cardinal Paolo Emilio
