THE DYNAMICS OF IMPROVISED DOUBLE BASS, DANCE, AND PAINTING
YES! TRiO ventures into an energized world of potential as dancer Yali Rivlin, double bassist Paul Erhard collaborate with painters, saying YES! to embracing a tri-dimensional tapestry language of expression using improvisation as a means of spontaneous communication, receptivity, and understanding. YES! TRiO grew out of Paul and Yali’s duo collaboration in January 2021, teaming up with painters Jenni Bateman and Sandra Hansen.
YES! TriO with Sandra Hansen – painter, Yali Rivlin – Dance, and Paul Erhard – double bass perform “H20 Environmental” during the International Society of Experimental Artists ISEA 2021 conference on Mackinac Island, MI, September 19, 2021. “H20 Environmental” is an improvised work dealing with the concerns of water pollution caused by plastic trash accumulating in the world’s oceans. Painter and paper maker Sandra Hansen creates a collage combining scraps of paper she has made with trash she picked up on the beaches of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
